Location: Washington State School for the Blind Campus and Community
The Washington State School for the Blind (WSSB) invites high school students to participate in Earsketch Camp, an engaging summer experience combining music production, computer science, recreation, and creative expression.
This residential camp introduces students to coding through Earsketch, an accessible platform that allows participants to create original music using programming concepts. Whether you love music, technology, or want to try coding for the first time, this camp offers a welcoming environment to learn new skills, build independence, and connect with peers.
WHAT STUDENTS WILL DO
Participants will:
Create and remix music using code
Learn foundational computer programming concepts
Develop problem-solving and computational thinking skills
Explore accessible technology tools
Collaborate with peers and mentors
Share a final music project showcase
In addition to learning sessions, campers will enjoy recreational and social activities designed to build community and confidence. Activities may include:
Swimming
Tandem cycling
Rock climbing
Bowling
Evening campus activities and more
Students will also receive a participation stipend recognizing their engagement and learning throughout the week.

WHO SHOULD APPLY
This camp is designed for high school students who:
Are interested in music, technology, or coding
Have accessibility skills to independently navigate a web browser
Enjoy creative, hands-on learning experiences
Coding or prior Earsketch experience is helpful but not required.
WHY EARSKETCH?
Earsketch makes coding engaging by connecting programming with music creation. Students learn real computer science skills while producing music they can share with others — blending creativity, technology, accessibility, and fun.
Earsketch Camp is offered in partnership with the Georgia Institute of Technology School of Music. Campers will learn using the Earsketch platform while participating in authentic, real-time research that advances accessible music and computer science education.
